SailCork’s Eddie English and Peter Scallan run the Yachtmaster Coastal Preparation course onboard our training Yacht “Holy Grounder” from East Ferry, Cobh in Cork Harbour.
The Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate certifies recreational sailors ability to skipper a sailing yacht under sail and auxiliary motor on coastal and offshore passages during daylight and at night. The certificate is endorsed for recreational use by the Department of Transport Tourism and Sport. The assessment is a practical assessment run at sea in a cruising boat.This course prepares you for the assessment. SailCork offers a “one stop shop” with a 5 day Preparation Course followed by the assessment by an external Examiner. It is essential to have the RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased certificate prior to attending.
The course is 4 nights live aboard and maximum numbers onboard is 4 candidates.
The exam is 8-14 hours per 2 candidates and the external Examiner will run the exam on days 6 & 7.
