You can enjoy a sailing holiday in Croatia in the sun whilst learning under the watchful eye of your Yachtmaster Instructor aboard a luxury yacht. Eddie English and the crew from Sail Cork have enjoyed sailing these waters over the past number of years and now and will give you the holiday of a lifetime in excellent sailing waters.
The cruise begins in the ancient port of Dubrovnik on Sun when we join our boat in the afternoon. We enjoy excellent sailing, amazing scenery, lots of swimming, great wines, good food and see this beautiful historic coastline. Top up your sailing and nav skills with Eddie and meet some wonderful people!

Some Facts: Temp Day 20+, Night 15+ - Rain possible! - It gets dark about an hour earlier than Ireland - around 19:30 - It gets bright around 06:00 - We will make use of daylight - The Croats love the Irish!
Costs: Boat kitty- approx €150-200 - for diesel, marina berths, gas + food aboard - Eating out : €25-45 per hd dinner - House wine from €10 per litre - Beer: good and costs €1.70-2.70 - Currency: 1 Euro = 7.44 Croatian Kuna 1 Croatian Kuna (HRK) = 0.13 Euro - Marinas are very good but expensive! (Transfers, Tourist tax, Outboard motor and cleaning paid)

This is a provisional itinerary - we will continue to fine tune - we want you to have the best sailing, stay at the best spots, enjoy the best facilities, enjoy great restaurants, see very special places and have a really great learning experience. We will leave no stone unturned!
Day 1 Sun Day 2 Mon Day 3 Tue Sail the south coast of Korcula and to the island of Lastavo- lunch near one of the amazing Cold War submarine pens in this remote, beautiful island. Sail around Island to overnight anchorage at Luka Zaplopatica (45M) Day 4 Wed Day 5 Thur Day 6 Fri Day 7 Sat Day 8 Sun Morning return to Dubrovnik - Enjoy the scenery of the coast and the city of Dubrovnik. Afternoon and evening to explore the UNESCO world heritage site - described by Byron as the "Pearl of the Adriatic" Last night on holiday with meal ashore in Dubrovnik. (14M) 09:45 Depart Marina for Dubrovnik airport - flight back to Ireland
Dubrovnik - Arrive Marina, check out boat and have briefing aboard. Afternoon departure with short sail to wonderful island of Lopud just off the entrance to Dubrovnik. Dinner aboard anchored off the beach next to this historic town. (9M)
Early departure for sail between island of Mljet and the mainland to the island of Badija for a lunchtime swim off it's famous monestary. Short hop to the historic town of Korcula - birth place of Marco Polo - for our overnight stay. (45 M)
Sail to western tip of island of Mljet and moor right in the dining room of the restaurant in Pomena! Swim in crystal warets and visit the tranquil, holy island of Jezero. (25M)
Early departure to sail along the shores of Mljet to breakfast among the islets off Polace. Sail up the Stonski Kanal to the historic walled town of Ston. (30 miles)
Sail to the Elphati Islands fro breakfast and on to the historic port of Dubrovnik where we anchor under the walls for lunch. On to the beautiful Roman town of Cavtat (30M)

Why did the Costa Concordia sink?
The town of Cobh has been a port of call for ocean liners for over 150 years - now about 60 liners visit Cork Harbour each year- we all love the liners! Everybody in the maritime community was shocked last Friday night with the news of the grounding of the massive Italian cruise liner the Costa Concordia. I spent the weekend trawling the web to try to find out what really happened - this blog is the tragic story of the last voyage of the Costa Concordia on Friday the 13th of January 2012.
