She sailed in Dublin for 4 years.  She was purchased by SailCork in May 2008 and her main sailing grounds have been the wonderful coast of Cork. Her name comes from the nickname  Cobh is the "Holy Ground" - hence from Cobh being a "Holy Grounder" The "Holy Ground" has been made world famous by the sea shanty the "Holy Ground"

Holy Grounder has sailed on the East, South and West coasts of Ireland as well as the UK including the Isles of Scilly.  She is full ready for the winter as she now has a central heating system installed! Do have a look at her performing on the SailCork Youtube Channel Youtube

The First 36.7 comes from the Farr design stable and has character, style, performance and all the equipment of a true 36’ racer, plus easy live-aboard comfort. She has a comfortable well designed interior, effective deck plan, large ergonomic cockpit, mainsheet-trim position tucked behind the helm and a deep lead keel. The First 36.7 will win the whole family over with her materials, spacious layout and finishing touches, all out-of-the-ordinary for this size and type of yacht. Her large forecabin, separate heads and two aft cabins, mean that up to 8 crew can race at top level one day and go cruising in first class comfort the next. The First 36.7 goes further : enjoy living at sea, for long and whatever the weather conditions, cook or sleep comfortably on a wild reach or upwind...  Her layout is perfect with three double cabins and two bunks in the main salon. Nothing better than sitting at the table in the salon for a meal with fellow crewmembers after a hard day's sailing!
Everything becomes possible on this 36’, a privilege and a great pleasure!

Why did the Costa Concordia sink?

The town of Cobh has been a port of call for ocean liners for over 150 years - now about 60 liners visit Cork Harbour each year- we all love the liners!  Everybody in the maritime community was shocked last Friday night with the news of the grounding of the massive Italian cruise liner the Costa Concordia. I spent the weekend trawling the web to try to find out what really happened - this blog is the tragic story of the last voyage of the Costa Concordia on  Friday the 13th of January 2012.
