10 June 2009
We start off with a full days training on Tuesday 23 June and racing begins on Wednesday 24 and continues Thur 25 Fri 26 and finishes on Sat 27. Sailing and racing afloat is in the excellent waters off the historic port of Kinsale - with over 130 boats competing that means over 600 sailors out there enjoying competing - meaning more than 1000 sailors and friends partying ashore after sailing!!
Sovereign’s Cup Regatta Kinsale
Sovereign's Cup Regatta runs from 24 to 27 June in the historic Cork port of Kinsale on the south coast of Ireland. It is one of the best "fun" regattas anywhere in the world - and I am looking forward to moulding a crew into a race winning team to try to retain the "White Sail" Class 1 trophy - which he and the crew from SailCork won at the last Sovereigns Cup Regatta in 2007.

We had a guest helmsman - my brother Joe ex Round the World skipper- aboard for the second days racing along with a film crew from RTE Nationwide. Joe sailed a great race to victory!
The shoreside was probably harder work than being afloat - apres sailing, dinner and disco!

Still we survived the rigours of the regatta and were neck and neck for pole position on the last day - thank goodness we had a great day on the water and came away with victory!
