New SailCork website
International Sailing (now SailCork) was expanding rapidly in the late 1990s. We had doubled in size and added "The Bistro" to our base at East Beach in Cobh. We then set about publicising the school, B and B and the "Bistro" We used all the conventional means and then said we better try this "World Wide Web"! In 1998 we launched our first website "www.sailcork.com" This worked extremely well as a "brochure" and our clients began to use it more and more - we redesigned and rebuilt the whole site in 2002 - and by this time our customers and the public had begun to call us "SailCork" - after the website - so we simply changed our name!
Our new SailCork website was an instant hit - with full and comprehensive weather links as well as full and detailed information on all our courses and activities. Over the last few years we have made a number of changes to the site including major changes and updates when we moved our base from Cobh to East Ferry in 2005. We are now well settled in East Ferry with an increased range of courses and facilities - we now need to let the world know where we are!! The project of building the new website began in late 2007 when we installed new Macs in our offices in Cobh. It is a precarious world out there with shark infested waters and it took us a huge amount of time before deciding on a provider who would build our new site with all the bells and whistles we wanted.
We have been working extremely hard along with the team in Combined Media for the last 10 weeks to come up with the final product. We now have a site with a much stronger graphical look and feel - reflecting the dynamic product we sell. We have a lot more information up there - which is easily accessed with a logical, simple sitemap. We can easily update the site as it has an excellent "content management system" (CMS) and it is integrated with our database to allow for on line booking. Besides this blog the site has also got a gallery - we will be adding a lot more to this in the near future.
Please come back to us with any comments - we will be very grateful - we are now in the final phase of tidying up - we do hope you will have good use for and like the new www.sailcork.com
