Spring is Sprung ! Get those cobwebs off and come afloat !
The year is off to a good start with a good Jan. Its great to see interest in upskilling and improving skills and a big thankyou to our customers for coming back and to our new comers for joining us. Bits and bobs coming up : Feb brings the return next Sat for our brave Juniors who come out every Sat for some sailing, powerboating and seamanship skills. All welcome. For those alittle older and wiser, we will run a teenage cruiser course (ages 13-17)over 5 days during mid term break, all in package. Easter sailing camps are booking up: 2 weeks available , week Mar 29 or Apr 5th. We will also run a 2 day Junior Powerboat course at Easter ( 2 age groups 12-14 and 15-16. For those much older and wiser, the next date for an Adult Powerboat course is on Mar 27-28 . " Holy Grounder" is afloat and continues to do Day Sails so just call for a sail. St Patrick's weekend is beckoning and one of our busiest cruiser courses, this year it will run from Fri night to Sun afternoon, Mar 12-14.
Nautical Books and Charts We stock a selection of 100 different nautical books including teaching books and pilot books. We can access over 1000 titles or any chart in 3 days.
Sailing Gift Vouchers may be purchased for any value to suit your budget. From €25 upwards. All vouchers may be redeemed towards any course.
If you fancy day sailing and viewing Cork Harbour , join us on yacht ‘Holy Grounder’ (she has central heating!) on a Sat or Sun and enjoy the fun aboard and learn how to sail a bigger boat. . ISA certified Cruiser courses. Suitable for new to crewing and skippers wishing to improve. Underwater cable Aghada to Cuskinny
One Thursday evening at the very start of February a group of seafarers decended on my local, “The Roaring Donkey”, in Cobh and lashed into copious quantities of gin and tonic. As the conversations began to flow it transpired that they were the crew of the Norwegian vessel, “Elektron”, docked at Cork Dockyard in Rushbrooke. Not just any ordinary ship but a specialist vessel for cable laying – she was here to lay the cable from Aghada Power Station to Cuskinny on the Great Island in Cork Harbour.
