The RYA Yachtmaster shorebased course is advanced and covers both Northern and Southern hemispheres. You must have completed the Day Skipper shorebased or submit proof of the required level through experience.

Length of Course 16 evenings, Starts week Oct 19th online and tutorials.
Objective This course equips you to navigate safely on coastal and offshore passages. It allows some time for revision of the basics and then moves on to advanced navigation techniques. This course will take your theory knowledge to the standard required for the Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Offshore practical exams, concentrating on advanced navigation and meteorology skills.
Location Online and attendance, venues to be confirmed.
What to bring A4 Notebook + folder, pens, highlighter, 2B pencils, eraser, sharpener. Course pack for the course will be available to buy at the first class : books, plotter, dividers etc. €100.

Definiation of Position, Course and Speed; Navigational Drawing Instruments; Navigational Charts and Publications; Dead Reckoning and Estimated Position; The Position Line; The Magnetic Compass; Position Fixing; Basic Coastal Navigation; Tides; Tidal Steams; Buoyage; Lights; Pilotage; Echo Sounders and Lead Lines; Electronic Aids to Navigation; Meteorology; Anchoring; International Regulations for the Prevention of Collision at Sea; Safety Afloat; Navigation in Restricted Visibility; Passage Planning and Making.

Pre Course Have completed the RYA Day skipper course or have equivalent level of navigation and a pre course test is subitted.
Pre Course Advice Refresh by reading up on Day skipper navigation. Allow 4 hours study and time to complete exercises extra.
